KARACHI: A gang who stole a truck laden with spinning threads worth five million rupees had been arrested.
Police conducted a raid in Malir and arrested five men including the gang’s ringleader. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession. Police have also recovered the stolen items worth millions of rupees.
On February 8, the suspects had stolen a truck laden from the main Link Road on Super Highway and had fled from the scene. The arrested suspects include the driver who drove the stolen vehicle.
The truck owner had lodged a case against unknown suspects after the vehicle was included. Sub-inspector Naik Muhammad Khokhar took action and arrested the suspects in a police raid. The value of the stolen items is said to around Rs5 million.
The vehicle’s owner had identified the driver who stole the truck. The suspects were part of an inter-provincial gang and had cases lodged against them in Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police are looking into the record on their criminal activities.
The suspects had confessed to robberies on highways across the country. They will be handed over to investigation agencies after initial interrogation. The suspects were identified as Zain-ul-Abideen, Umair, Shafiq, Abdul Rauf and Faraz.
