Amid escalating tensions with India, the federal government has delivered welcome relief to the public by announcing a reduction in electricity tariffs.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has officially notified a decrease in power prices under monthly and quarterly fuel adjustment mechanisms.
According to the NEPRA notification, electricity prices have been reduced by a total of Rs1.83 per unit.
The breakdown of the tariff cut includes a 28-paisa per unit reduction under monthly fuel price adjustment, applicable for the current month, and a Rs1.55 per unit reduction under the quarterly adjustment mechanism, applicable for May, June, and July 2025.
NEPRA clarified that this tariff relief comes as part of scheduled adjustments and aims to ease the financial burden on electricity consumers during a time of heightened regional tension.
