The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a rebuttal to the Inter-Services Public Relations’ (ISPR) statement that said the protesters “targeting army property and installations” following former prime minister Imran Khan’s arrest.
“The statement is a sad collection of hatred and revenge-based narratives against the most reliable, popular and largest political party of Pakistan,” it said.
The PTI maintained that the ISPR’s statement was “contrary to facts” and “based on a poor understanding of ground realities”.
On Wednesday, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that May 9 will be remembered as a “black chapter”, referring to the mass public protest following Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest.
“We will not allow anyone to take the law into their hands,” it said in a statement.
The military media wing said that Imran Khan was arrested from the Islamabad High Court “in line with the NAB statement and law”.
“Soon after [Khan’s arrest], there were organised attacks on army properties and installations and anti-army slogans were raised,” the military’s media wing said.
The ISPR said that on the one hand, “these miscreants evoke the nation’s emotions for achieving their limited and selfish objectives and on the other hand, they deceive people, continuing to highlight the army’s importance”.
