Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan has come forward in support of his teammate and wicketkeeper Azam Khan, emphasizing that performance is more important than fitness.
Speaking at a press conference, Shadab expressed displeasure over repeated remarks targeting Azam Khan’s fitness, defending the wicketkeeper-batsman following their team’s victory against Karachi Kings.
He stated, “Azam Khan’s performance has been impressive, which is a positive sign for the team. His game is more important than his fitness.”
Shadab further added, “People shouldn’t question our wicketkeeper’s fitness. We cover for him on the field, and he always delivers for the team.”
It is worth mentioning that Azam Khan contributed 31 runs off 30 balls in the match against Karachi Kings, playing a role in Islamabad United’s win.
Azam Khan, the son of former Pakistan captain Moin Khan, has frequently been subjected to criticism regarding his fitness in the past, despite his consistent efforts with the bat.
