Karachi is expected to face a spell of intense heat beginning today, with daytime temperatures projected to rise as high as 41°C — approximately 4 to 6 degrees above the seasonal average — and persist until Wednesday, April 23, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
In an advisory issued on Sunday, the Met Office urged residents, particularly children, women, and the elderly, to take precautionary measures during the heatwave. “Avoid direct exposure to sunlight during peak hours and stay well-hydrated,” the advisory recommended.
The weather in most parts of Sindh is expected to remain hot to very hot and dry throughout this period. On Sunday, Karachi recorded a maximum temperature ranging between 39°C and 41°C, with a minimum of 25°C. Wind patterns shifted from north/northwesterly in the morning to west/southwesterly later in the day.
Elsewhere in Sindh, April has brought unusually high temperatures, particularly in central and upper regions. Average daytime temperatures have hovered around 45°C, with Shaheed Benazirabad witnessing a record-breaking 49°C last Thursday — the highest in the area in nearly seven years.
