KARACHI: At least 9 people lost their lives in a tragic traffic accident that took place on the Thatta Hyderabad National Highway late last night.
The victims, who were travelling in a Suzuki pick-up, were en route to Kenjhar lake for a picnic when the accident occurred. The bodies of the deceased were taken to the civil hospital in Makli, while the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.
According to reports gathered by MM News, the accident was caused due to the braking of a truck at the toll plaza, which was subsequently hit by a car coming from behind. The collision resulted in the deaths of all 9 people travelling in the Suzuki pick-up. The victims belonged to Malir area of Karachi.
Dr. Safdar, the in-charge of Makli Civil Hospital, confirmed that initially the bodies of four people had been shifted to Makli Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the loss of human lives in the road accident near Thatta and directed the district administration and police to immediately shift the injured to the hospital.
In addition, the Chief Minister has also ordered the administration to provide full support to the affected families and imposed an emergency in Thatta Hospital.
Latest reports suggest the bodies of all the 9 victims of road accident had been shifted to Edhi mortuary located at Sohrab Goth, Karachi.
