Despite reported backlash in India, the makers of Abir Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, are moving ahead with their promotional plans, with the film’s music launch set to take place in Dubai.
According to Indian media reports, the soundtrack will be unveiled at Dubai’s Global Village, a move seen as strategic amid tensions over the film’s casting.
“The team anticipated potential controversy in India after Fawad was cast,” a source of Niche Lifestyle close to the project revealed. “Dubai was an obvious choice for the launch—it’s neutral ground, has a significant South Asian diaspora, and Fawad enjoys considerable popularity there. Music plays a major role in Abir Gulaal, and they wanted to make a strong impact with it before the trailer release.”
On the other hand, famous TV host and drama star Tauseeq Haider recently released a video in which he stated, “They are saying they will not let Fawad Khan’s film release in India. How will you stop Pakistani dramas from entering your homes, then?”
In the video, he also said, “Pakistani dramas are receiving a lot of love from India. We accept that your (Indian) cricket team is better than ours, and there is no harm in recognizing and appreciating each other’s strengths or better art.”
