ADELAIDE: Netherlands beat Zimbabwe by five wickets, with 12 balls remaining, here at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday in the Super 12s Group 2 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
Zimbabwe opted to bat first against the Netherlands at the Adelaide Oval. The decision wouldn’t suit the team that beat Pakistan with three wickets lost in the powerplay and no partnerships being formed to do the repair work. The Dutch restricted Zimbabwe at 117.
Chasing a modest target of 118 runs, the Dutch side reached home in 18 overs.
Earlier, Dutch pacers wreaked havoc on the batting line to bundle out Zimbabwe for a paltry total of 117 despite valiant resistance by all-rounder Sikandar Raza.
Raza top-scored for the side with a defiant knock of 24-ball 40 amid complete batting chaos as nine of the Zimbabwean batters failed to make it into double figures.
Paul van Meekeren and Brandon Glover stormed through the top order as they stuck the batting side to 20/3 in the powerplay.
For the Netherlands, Meekeren was the pick of the bowlers as he returned excellent figures of 3/29 in his four overs quota, while Glover, Logan van Beek and Bas de Leede took two wickets apiece. Medium pacer Fred Klaassen also had a scalp to his credit.
