KARACHI: The death toll as a result of Friday’s attack on Karachi Police Office (KPO) climbed to five on Sunday when Police constable Abdul Latif, who sustained serious injuries in the attack, breathed his last in hospital today. Martyred policeman was the fifth victim of the attack on police office.

Meanwhile, the Counter Terror Department (CTD) conducted raids across the city and rounded up some 7 suspects following the geo-fencing of the crime scene.
The attack, which took place on Friday evening, led to hours-long siege and floor-by-floor operation by security forces in which all three attackers ended up being killed, while four people including two policemen, a Rangers’ Jawan and a civilian lost their lives, while 19 others were injured.

Earlier today, security forces accompanied by Bomb Disposal Squad, Rangers and police personnel conducted a final detailed search in the KPO building and recovered 12 more accessories that were believed to have been used terrorists. The seized items included hand grenades, two pistols packed in plastic boxes with complete accessories, watches, wallets, used and unused 210 bullets, USBs, pistol holders, and suicide jackets. Additionally, 9mm bullet packets, a dagger, a digital camera, and smart mobile phones were also recovered.
