KARACHI: A man who hit a traffic police officer after violating a traffic signal in Karachi’s DHA area has been arrested.
The incident took place near the Saudi embassy on May 20, according to Express Tribune. Traffic police officer Sadaqat signaled to a vehicle that ran a red light to stop. The driver did not comply with the request and accelerated.
When the constable stepped in front of the vehicle, the driver did not stop and ran over him. The impact caused Constable Sadaqat to be thrown onto the bonnet of the car. Holding onto the bonnet, he managed to stay on the vehicle as the driver attempted to flee.
Despite this, the driver continued to evade arrest, and another police officer on a motorbike videotaped the incident. Traffic police eventually succeeded in stopping the vehicle and arresting the driver, identified as Malik Bashir’s son, Ali Hassan. The suspect was handed over to Gizri Police Station and booked on several charges under the Pakistan Penal Code.
