WASHINGTON: The number of coronavirus infection cases across the world has surged to 14,189,484 and the pandemic has so far claimed over 599,346 lives.
According to the latest data, 8,455,226 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far. The United States tops with nearly 3,770,012 cases and more than 142,064 deaths followed by Brazil with over 2,048,697 cases and more than 77,932 deaths.
India has reported 1,040,457 cases while 26,285 deaths due to the coronavirus. Over 759,203 people have infected while 12,123 people died of the virus in Russia. The country has the third-highest number of recorded infections in the world.
Peru has reported 345,537 cases while 12,799 deaths. South Africa has reported 4,804 deaths while over 337,594 people have been tested positive for the virus. Mexico has reported 38,310 deaths and 331,298 cases.
In Chile, nearly 326,539 cases were confirmed, including more than 8,347 deaths. Spain has recorded 28,420 fatalities and 307,335 infections.
The United Kingdom has reported 45,233 fatalities and 293,239 infections. Meanwhile, the death toll is 13,791 in Iran as the confirmed number of cases is almost 269,440.
Saudi Arabia has reported 245,851 cases of coronavirus, while 2,407 coronavirus deaths have been reported. Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 35,028 fatalities, while 243,967 infections.
