A group of six monkeys caused a stir in Karachi’s Soldier Bazaar on Wednesday after escaping from the city’s zoo. The monkeys leaped from one building to another, creating chaos as they entered homes, scaring residents who ran out for help.
Teams from the Sindh Wildlife Department quickly arrived at the scene but struggled to catch the highly active monkeys. Onlookers in the market gathered to watch as the monkeys jumped over their heads from building to building.
At first, it was thought that the monkeys had escaped from a nearby zoo, but zoo officials denied any connection to the animals, adding to the confusion. When the monkeys were spotted in the Garden area, residents called emergency services for assistance. Police and wildlife officials soon joined the scene to help.
While the police speculated that the monkeys might have escaped from the zoo, no damage was reported. An investigation is underway to confirm their origin and ownership.
Till the filing of this news story, the apes had not been recaptured.
