LAHORE: The Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority PERA has issued a formal clarification late Monday evening regarding the controversy surrounding Habib Jalib’s daughter allegations about their officials demanding money and shutting down her roadside food cart in Lahore.
The authority said it respects the daughter of the renowned public poet. However, its initial inquiry found no officer visited the Habib Jalib daughter’s dhaba in Lahore location or sought any allowance.

It is pertinent to add here that Tahira Habib Jalib, daughter of legendary poet Habib Jalib, recently set up a homemade food cart near Model Town Market. She sold biryani, pulao and dal chawal to support her family. Authorities reportedly ordered her to dismantle the stall within 24 hours, according to multiple media reports.
Tahira alleged officials demanded money to let her continue. She claimed her earlier request to the Lahore deputy commissioner for a permit received no response. The incident sparked outrage on social media.
PERA response on Habib Jalib daughter’s dhaba
The PERA spokesperson termed all claims against the agency as prima facie baseless and fabricated. He stated that the Habib Jalib daughter’s dhaba case was never handled by PERA officials.
He urged the victim to submit evidence through official complaint channels. The agency assured a complete and impartial investigation. Officials said strict action will follow if anyone is found guilty.
