Marius Borg Høiby, the 27-year-old son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, was arrested on Monday evening on suspicion of rape, according to Norwegian police.
Høiby, who is the son from Mette-Marit’s previous relationship before her 2001 marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, the heir to the Norwegian throne, is facing multiple charges related to alleged offences involving four other victims.
The police said that the rape in question pertains to a sexual act without intercourse, during which the victim was reportedly unable to resist. The alleged victim, a woman in her 20s, did not know Høiby prior to the incident, which took place the day they met.
She was not in a relationship with him, her lawyer, Hege Salomon told CNN.
Høiby, who has reportedly denied the rape allegations, also has a criminal history. In August, he was charged with assault and criminal damage after an incident in an Oslo apartment involving one of the three women.
Høiby was arrested on Monday in the company of a woman who was reportedly in a car with him at the time. Moreover, he faces charges for allegedly threatening to kill a man in his 20s, according to NRK.
