With just days to go before the highly anticipated Christmas release of Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri (TMMTMTTM), the makers have dropped what they hope will be the season’s biggest wedding anthem.
Released on December 22, 2025, the new rendition of the iconic 1990s chartbuster “Saat Samundar Paar” features Bollywood favorites Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday.
While the track leans heavily on nostalgia, it has sparked a heated debate among fans and music critics alike.
Originally composed by Viju Shah for the 1992 thriller Vishwatma, the song became a cultural phenomenon thanks to the late Divya Bharti’s spirited performance.
The 2025 version, revamped and sung by Karan Nawani, takes a different approach. Moving away from the high-energy synth-pop of the original, this “mellowed-down” rendition opts for a contemporary, romantic vibe.
The music video, set against the backdrop of a lavish wedding, showcases the crackling chemistry between Aaryan and Panday.
Adding a global flair to the production, the world-renowned dance crew The Quick Style makes a special appearance, with choreography helmed by Remo D’Souza.
Mixed Reception: “Nostalgic” vs. “Lackluster”
Despite the star power, “Saat Samundar Paar” has received a polarized response on social media. Supporters have praised Kartik and Ananya’s screen presence, calling the track a “fresh and soulful” take for a new generation.
This should not have been ruined like this… this is iconic song of an iconic actress..why you guys hv to touch every iconic so g n then ruin it … disappointed #SaatSamundarPaar #KartikAaryan @TheAaryanKartik #TuMeriMainTeraMainTeraTuMeri

However, purists have been less forgiving. Many netizens took to X (formerly Twitter) to express disappointment, claiming the remake lacks the “infectious energy” and “soul” of the original Sadhana Sargam and Udit Narayan version.

“Some classics are better left untouched,” one viral comment read. “The original was a dance floor firestarter; this feels more like a slow-burn ballad.”
Produced by Karan Johar, TMMTMTTM is expected to be a major box-office draw. Directed by Sameer Vidwans, the film is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on December 25, 2025. Whether the lukewarm reception to the remake will impact the film’s opening remains to be seen, but the buzz surrounding the lead pair continues to grow.
