MS Dhoni faces backlash in India for staying silent on Pahalgam incident

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain who led India to World Cup glory, has found himself in a difficult situation for not issuing an anti-Pakistan reaction following the Pahalgam incident.

While several former and current Indian cricketers — including Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and even former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria, known for his anti-Pakistan sentiments — expressed sorrow over the incident, Dhoni’s silence has drawn heavy criticism from Indian fans.

Critics have harshly questioned Dhoni’s loyalty, with some saying, “What kind of army man is he, who cannot even tweet about the Pahalgam attack?”

It is worth noting that after leading India to victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup, Dhoni was awarded an honorary Lieutenant Colonel rank in November 2011 by then-Army Chief General V.K. Singh.

Dhoni remains the only captain under whose leadership India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Earlier Indian government banned Daily Pakistan Global, one of Pakistan’s most prominent YouTube channels, amid rising tensions after Pahalgam incident. The channel, which boasts over 3.7 million subscribers, has been a major source of news and entertainment for audiences in the region.

The ban appears to be part of a broader crackdown on Pakistani digital platforms, as India escalates what many are calling a “digital war” in the wake of growing scrutiny over the alleged false flag operation in Pahalgam.
