Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has extended a light-hearted tea invitation to former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, following a social media exchange sparked by Afridi’s strong remarks on Indian policy in Kashmir.
During an appearance on a private TV channel, Afridi harshly criticized the Modi government over the recent Pahalgam false flag operation, calling it a failure of Indian intelligence.
“Even if a firecracker goes off in India, they immediately blame Pakistan,” Afridi said. “There are 800,000 Indian troops in occupied Kashmir, and if such an incident still occurs, it is a reflection of sheer incompetence and failure.”
The remarks provoked a reaction from Shikhar Dhawan, who criticized Afridi in a post on social platform X (formerly Twitter). In response, Afridi shared a photo of himself wearing a military-style shirt while holding a cup of tea, offering Dhawan an invitation:
“Forget wins and losses, come have tea, Shikhar.” Afridi also added the hashtag #FantasticTea to the post.
Earlier, Afridi had also condemned India for prematurely blaming Pakistan for the incident in Kashmir, calling the move baseless and regrettable.
