LAHORE: TV Anchor and analyst Najam Sethi, who is known for his close ties with PMLN leader Nawaz Sharif, met with PM Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore the other day triggering rumors and speculations that he is going to be appointed as the new chief of Pakistan Cricket Board.
PM Shehbaz Sharif, it may be mentioned here, is also patron-in-chief of the PCB. Both the PM and Sethi discussed matters pertaining to the restoration of the 2014 Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Constitution and departmental cricket.
There are also reports suggesting that the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) has given a summary of Najam Sethi’s nomination as the new head of the PCB and the reinstatement of the 2014 PCB Constitution to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to the reports.
It may be recalled that Najam, 73, first served as chairman in 2013 but had to fight a legal battle with Chaudhry Muhammad Zaka Ashraf. He returned to charge in 2014 but Shahryar Khan was named chairman and Sethi was given the charge of the powerful executive committee.
