The terror attacks on September 11, 2001, were the deadliest attacks on US soil since the Pearl Harbor bombing that launched the US into World War II. The plane hijackings that struck the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a Pennsylvania field killed nearly 3,000 people.
The attacks dramatically changed the world, after which the then US president George Bush started the War on Terror, which targeted the Al-Qaeda extremist group and its leader, Osama bin Laden. Justifying its leadership’s presence in Afghanistan, the United States invaded Afghanistan with NATO, a military ally of more than 40 countries.
The United States also forced Pakistan, the most important country in the region, to become a front line ally in this war on terror. At the same time, a history of bloodshed and destruction was recorded in Afghanistan in which millions of innocent people were killed instead of terrorists. Pakistan is the most affected country along with Afghanistan in this war on terror.
Due to the conspiracies of the enemy forces and being a neighbor of Afghanistan, the terrorists who fled Afghanistan made its border areas their strongholds. Thus, Pakistan witnessed a huge number of terrorists attacks and US drone strikes for years.
More than 70,000 Pakistani civilians including thousands of Pak army soldiers lost their lives in this war on terror. On the other hand, the country also suffered billions of dollars in economic losses. Despite this, the United States has always accused Pakistan of being a safe haven for terrorists.
Pakistani forces have conducted 12 major operations against terrorists in about 15 years. The most recent one was Operation ‘Raddul Fasaad’, which broke the backs of terrorists and the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army brought peace to the entire country.
Despite all these efforts against terrorism, Pakistan is still on the grey list of Financial Action Task Force due to the conspiracies of arch-rival India. In this regard, Pakistan has been plagued by various sanctions. And despite the most difficult political and economic situation, Pakistan is taking steps to avoid being blacklisted.
On the other hand, India is not only perpetrating atrocities on the Kashmiri people through continuous state terrorism in illegally occupied Kashmir but is also persecute minorities in the country. Besides, India has always been involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan against which Pakistan has been raising its voice at every international forum.
A few days earlier, the American magazine Foreign Policy unveiled India’s disgusting face by exposing India’s links with terrorist organizations. India-ISIS operations also include bombings in Sri Lanka. According to the American magazine, India’s involvement in terrorism is nothing new. In fact, India is a root and base in promoting the ideology of the Taliban.
The eye-opening revelations of a reputable American magazine prove that India is a source of terrorism and a major threat to world peace. For peace in the region and world, it is imperative that all peace-loving nations should question India at every global and regional forum. And, in order to stop India from its nefarious intentions, economic and defense sanctions should also be imposed on India.
