National T20 Cup: Central Punjab beats KP by three runs

RAWALPINDI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa captain Mohammad Rizwan’s inning went in vain as Central Punjab registered a three-run win in the National T20 Cup on Wednesday night.

Chasing a target of 175 runs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was restricted to 171-6. Muhammad Rizwan scored a half-century as he remained unbeaten on 99 off 68 deliveries. Waqas Maqsood was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of 3-43 in his four overs.

Central Punjab, who were asked to bat first, scored 174-4 on the back of half-centuries by Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Akhlaq. Abdullah Shafique was the top scorer for his team with 63 off 48 deliveries with five boundaries and two sixes.

Mohammad Akhlaq hit four fours and three maximums during his 50-run knock which lasted 29 balls. They put on a 70-run partnership for the third wicket. The pace duo of Imran Khan and Usman Shinwari picked up two wickets each.
