KARACHI: Customs officials have foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs worth Rs.12 crores.
While conducting operations at Jinnah International Airport, Customs officials stopped and searched the suitcases of two Pakistani passengers named Hamdullah and Abdul Latif from Saudi Airlines flight SV 705 to Jeddah on the indication of the customs operator on the customs scanning monitor.
During the search, 1130 grams of heroin powder and 260 grams of Amphetamine crystals (total weight 1390 grams) hidden in the handles, rods, and inner cardboard of the suitcases were recovered, which has an international value of around one and a half crore rupees.
Officials registered cases against the accused under the Customs and Narcotics Act and formally arrested them. It should be noted that this is the fourth action taken in the last 20 days under the leadership of Collector Airport Nadeem Memon and Additional Collector Asadullah Lark.
For the successful operation, Collector Nadeem Memon and Additional Collector Asadullah Lark appreciated the efficiency of Assistant Collector Departure Waqar Haider and the staff and reiterated that the officers and staff of the Airport Collectorate will work diligently day and night.
