In the third installment of Bollywood’s famous film series Don, Ranveer Singh has been cast in place of Shah Rukh Khan, sparking debate among fans. While some are excited to see a fresh take on the iconic character, others are fiercely loyal to SRK’s portrayal and skeptical about whether Ranveer can match the charisma and legacy left behind.
According to details, the blockbuster film originally starring Amitabh Bachchan in 1978 was remade in 2006 and 2011 by Farhan Akhtar with Shah Rukh Khan, both of which turned out to be major hits. However, differences between Shah Rukh Khan and director Farhan Akhtar over the ending of the script for Don 3 have taken a new turn.
Sources say that tensions between Shah Rukh and Farhan had already begun during the shooting of Don 2. In a recently viral video, actor Nader Ali revealed that Shah Rukh was unable to remember the dialogue for one scene and had to read it from the script.
Additionally, Shah Rukh added a line to the script on his own, which Farhan objected to. In response, Shah Rukh said, “You’re making Don, but who is Don? It’s Shah Rukh, right! The public wants to see Shah Rukh Khan.”
Although the matter seemed settled at the time, it appears Farhan held on to it. The disagreement between Shah Rukh and Farhan over the ending of the Don 3 script further complicated things, ultimately leading Farhan Akhtar to cast Ranveer Singh in the lead role instead.
Due to Ranveer’s busy schedule, the film’s shooting was delayed, but the project is now progressing rapidly. Fans had hoped to see Shah Rukh Khan return as Don, but this decision has left them disappointed. It remains to be seen whether Ranveer Singh can do justice to the iconic role and how Shah Rukh’s fans will receive this change.
