ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI leader Amir Mughal due to their failure to appear before the court.
The warrants were issued by Judge Tahir Abbas Supra following hearings for cases registered at the Sangjani and I-9 police stations.
While Ali Nawaz Awan, Waseem Qayyum, Amir Kiani, and other accused appeared in court, the KP chief minister and Amir Mughal requested exemptions from appearing in the case. Judge Supra denied these requests, stating that exemptions from attendance could not be granted. He dismissed the argument that the suspects were unable to attend because they were out of town.
When questioned about who was responsible for ensuring the suspects’ attendance, the PTI lawyer responded that it was the suspects’ responsibility. Consequently, the judge declared that arrest warrants would be issued for any accused who failed to appear.
Judge Supra further warned that non-bailable arrest warrants were being issued for all absent accused. He cautioned that those who miss the next hearing, scheduled for July 8, would be declared absconders.
