A Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) employee was brutally murdered by a shopkeeper during a dispute over electricity bill recovery in Sukkur on Saturday.
According to SEPCO officials, the deceased, identified as Fahim, had gone to the shop to recover outstanding dues when an argument broke out between the two. The situation escalated, and the shopkeeper attacked Fahim with a sharp-edged weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Fahim was rushed to Civil Hospital Sukkur, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
In response to the incident, SEPCO employees staged a protest outside the hospital, demanding immediate action against the accused. They alleged that local police were reluctant to act against the shopkeeper responsible for the murder.
Protesters warned that if the authorities failed to arrest the accused, they would resort to suspending electricity supply in the area as a form of protest.
The incident has heightened tensions in the area, with SEPCO workers calling for justice and greater protection for field staff.
