PESHAWAR: A three-year-old boy named Zaeem Abbas has been accused of stealing electricity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The FIR jointly filed by Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) and Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) was dismissed by the Additional Sessions Judge after receiving the affidavit.
This incident has come at a time when significant losses have been revealed due to power theft, which is a total of Rs 438 billion in various power distribution companies.
To deal with this problem, the federal government has taken action by deputing officers from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to discos. Their aim is to crack down on power theft and control losses.
The development underscores ongoing efforts to tackle power theft in the region, with the aim of improving accountability and ensuring equitable distribution of power resources.
