DADU: Foreign Minister and PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday has claimed that PTI members of National Assembly do not want to resign and instead, have been begging the Speaker not to accept their resignations. He further claimed that even senior PTI leaders like Pervez Khattak and Shah Mehmood Qureshi didn’t want to resign.
Talking to media in Dadu, a city worst hit by recent floods, Bilawal asked as to what difference did it make if Imran Khan hadn’t been prime minister for six months. He invited the PTI to rejoin the Parliament. He said Imran Khan failed at every occasion, and was ousted from power through constitutional means.
Commenting on the economic situation, he admitted that there was difficult situation at that front, but added that Pakistan was not faced with the threat of economic default. He said the one who ‘strangled the economy over last few years’ was actually responsible for the current situation, an apparent hint towards Imran Khan whom the PDM government blamed occasionally.
Earlier, he threw light on the destruction caused by floods in Pakistan and said that the government would provide loans to the flood-hit people on easy terms for building their houses.
He said that the floods had caused massive destruction in the country, adding that it had happened nowhere in the world a large part of the country came under water.
“The floodwater is still accumulated in many areas. The places where the floodwater has drained there is destruction everywhere,” he stated.
“There is still a lot of work to be done for the flood-hit people. We are making great efforts for the rehabilitation of the flood victims,” he added.
Bilawal also stated that he had presented Pakistan’s stance on climate change before the world, adding that the Sindh chief minister had started measures even before the flood.
“We are taking a $2 billion loan from the World Bank for the rehabilitation of the flood-hit people. We have the data of the flood victims, and the loans will be given on merit,” he declared.
