DOHA: An Afghan Taliban delegation on a tour of regional powers will arrive in Pakistan on Wednesday, to resume Afghanistan peace talks with the United States.
The US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzadis already in Islamabad earlier indicating a possible restart for the recently called off ‘Afghan Peace Talks’.
Zalmay Khalilzad called upon Prime Minister Imran Khan during his recently concluded visit to the US both dignitaries discussed the ongoing situation in Afghanistan and the apparent dissolution of the Afghan peace process.
Earlier in September, the US and Taliban were close to a deal when President Donald Trump suddenly called off a meeting with representatives of the insurgent group and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at Camp David.
Trump ended the negotiating process that Khalilzad had been running for a year over a Taliban attack in Kabul that left 12 people, including a US soldier, dead.
