In view of the continuous rain and flood situation across the country has worsened and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has canceled his visit to London and called a meeting regarding relief operations during the flood.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returned home after completing his official visit to Qatar yesterday and summoned a meeting regarding the flood victims as soon as he returned home.

Floods devastated villages across the country, including Balochistan, Sindh and southern Punjab. So far, more than 900 people, including 300 children, have died during the flood, which seems to repeat the history of the terrible flood that occurred 12 years ago.

It should be noted that during the flood that occurred in Pakistan in 2010, more or less 1 thousand 540 people died while 2 thousand 88 people were injured. More than 5 lakh 57 thousand houses were completely destroyed.

A major problem during the current floods is the disconnection of land connectivity between several cities due to which government officials are facing problems in compiling statistics on flood deaths, destruction of houses and other facts.

During his visit to Qatar, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the Emir of Qatar and other important Qatari officials and discussed issues of mutual interest including promoting bilateral cooperation in other important sectors including the economy.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Qatar is being considered important in terms of billions of dollars in aid and it was expected to receive some similar positive news from London, but flood victims across the country are waiting for government aid under the open sky.

Yesterday, the flood victims reached Karachi from the rural areas of Sindh, who have been temporarily sheltered in government schools located in Sachal Goth. The victims said that they belong to Naushehro Feroze.

The flood victims from Mehrabpur city of Naushehro Feroze district had saved their lives and they reached Karachi. They said that there is no such thing as the government in Mehrabpur. The food was not received on the first day, it started to be received on Monday.

Earlier, the federal government appealed to philanthropists and the international community to help flood victims generously. It is necessary that the federal and provincial governments forget the political disputes and take all possible serious and emergency measures for the rehabilitation of the flood victims so that their losses can be remedied to some extent.
