DUBAI: Saudi Arabia has reportedly rejected a formal Israeli request to allow an Israeli military aircraft to land on Saudi territory following a turbulent incident involving a Flydubai passenger flight and an alleged dispute between its pilots.
According to media reports, a Flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv was forced to make an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, the previous day following an alleged dispute or physical altercation between the aircraft’s pilot and co-pilot.
Following the incident, Israel requested permission to send a military aircraft to Saudi Arabia to bring the affected Israeli passengers back home.
Saudi authorities reportedly refused to allow the Israeli military aircraft to land at the airport, citing security considerations and national sovereignty.
Following Riyadh’s decision, alternative arrangements were made for the stranded Israeli passengers. They were subsequently transported from Saudi Arabia to Israel on a regular commercial flight.
