KARACHI: Fifty-nine girls looking for jobs fell victim to an alleged scam in Karachi after they were invited to a farmhouse in Gadap City for a purported job interview and training session. The suspects allegedly fled with more than 50 mobile phones after collecting the devices from the victims.
According to police, the girls were contacted through a fake job advertisement posted on social media and were transported to the farmhouse in two buses for interviews and training.
Upon arrival, the girls were allegedly told that recording was prohibited at the venue and were asked to hand over their mobile phones. Police said a man identified as Sahil Salman collected the phones in a bag and later fled the scene with an accomplice.
After discovering the alleged theft, the affected girls reached Gadap Town Police Station and reported the incident.
Police subsequently detained the farmhouse manager, Waqas, and coordinator Nargis for questioning. A case has been registered, while efforts are underway to arrest the alleged main suspect and his accomplice.
