The Sindh government has announced that it will cover the medical expenses of those severely injured after a tragic incident in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA), where a vehicle crashed into a tent of mourners outside an imambargah.
A teenage girl lost her life, while more than a dozen people were injured when a speeding Suzuki pickup rammed through security barriers and entered the congregation area at Masjid-o-Imambargah Baqiatullah during a Muharram majlis on Sunday night.
According to a statement posted on social media platform X by the Sindh Information Department on Tuesday, the provincial health department has issued separate letters to Aga Khan Hospital and South City Hospital regarding the treatment of the injured.

The letters said that the government would bear the medical expenses of all “severely injured” patients, and directed the hospitals to submit their bills and vouchers after providing treatment.
Patients under treatment at Aga Khan Hospital include Shabana Bibi, Mehnaz Bibi, Zunaira Fatima, Kousar Parveen, Bibi Irshad, Bibi Mumtaz, Iman Fatima and Fatima Maheen, while those admitted at South City Hospital are Shabana Batool and Amna Batool.
Provincial Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho said that all injured women, children and other affected individuals would receive full and proper medical care without delay, adding that the government is committed to ensuring the best possible treatment for the victims and safeguarding lives.
