ISLAMABAD: Instead of curtailing the lavish lifestyles of ministers and advisors, the Shahbaz government has once again picked the pockets of the common public by increasing the price of petrol, while mocking relief efforts by slashing diesel prices by a mere 91 paisa.
According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 1.82 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs 396.65 per litre.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by 91 paisa per litre, making it available at Rs 394.94 per litre. The new prices have come into effect starting October 8, 2026.
On the international front, an upward trend is being witnessed in global oil prices as well, with Brent crude trading above $100 per barrel amid growing supply concerns.
