KARACHI: XDR-Typhoid fever cases have been increasing all over Sindh.
The National Institute of Child Health (NICH) released a report on Typhoid XDR. According to the report, 335 cases of typhoid XDR were reported in the first 4 months of this year, the highest number of 99 cases was reported in April.
While 63 cases were reported in January, 89 in February, and 84 in March. Health experts have advised citizens to be careful, saying that typhoid spreads as a result of contaminated water, so citizens should boil water and drink it.

Experts also say that typhoid XDR is spreading as a result of self-medication and prescription of antibiotics by doctors, citizens should avoid indiscriminate use of antibiotics. Antibiotics are proving ineffective against the new type of typhoid, XDR, experts added.
