LAHORE: There is a fear of a serious flour crisis across the country due to the devaluation of the rupee and the rise of the dollar.
According to the details, despite the offer of up to $370 per ton to Pakistani traders in the international market, Pakistani importers are reluctant to import wheat privately due to the increasing value of the dollar, and the import of wheat at the government level is also very slow.
According to the sources, flour mill owners of Peshawar have stopped the purchase of wheat at high prices in the hope of the possible formation of a Tehreek-e-Insaaf government in Punjab. They hope that as soon as the Tehreek-e-Insaf government comes, the restrictions imposed on the delivery of wheat flour from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will end.

However, the bureaucracy of Punjab is concerned that if wheat flour continues to leave Punjab without any checks and balances, then instead of January 2023, Punjab flour may face a crisis in November 2022, ongoing political instability, and future government formation.
