Islamabad: The incarcerated founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister, Imran Khan, has conveyed important instructions regarding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi through his sister, Noreen Niazi.
According to sources, Imran Khan told Noreen Niazi that Sohail Afridi had failed to meet the party’s expectations as chief minister. He reportedly instructed that if Afridi did not lead the Islamabad long march on September 27, former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur should move a no-confidence motion against him.
During the meeting, Noreen Niazi briefed Imran Khan on the overall political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and informed him that around 35 MPAs belonging to the Ali Amin Gandapur group were opposed to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
Sources further said that following the internal developments and messages conveyed by Imran Khan, changes were made to the long march programme. Meanwhile, a key federal minister is also reportedly in regular contact with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, with both sides working on a joint strategy.
