Islamabad: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has expanded facilities for this year’s Hajj pilgrims by introducing several new and useful features on the Pak Hajj App and digital portal. Pilgrims can now monitor and modify their Hajj packages and accommodation arrangements from the comfort of their homes.
Private Hajj Scheme: 45,000 Seats Still Available
According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs, a total of 26,000 applications have so far been received under the private Hajj scheme, while pilgrims can still apply for around 45,000 available seats.
The digital portal, developed by the National Information Technology Board (NITB), is currently facilitating private Hajj bookings at a fast pace.
Greater Flexibility in Packages and Accommodation
The newly introduced features give pilgrims greater flexibility in managing their Hajj arrangements, including:
Choice of accommodation: Pilgrims can select their preferred accommodation remotely, including two-bed, three-bed, family-room or shared accommodation options.
Change in package duration: Pilgrims can switch from a long Hajj package to a short package, or vice versa.
Hardship quota and refunds: Through the digital portal and app, pilgrims can add a mahram or helper under the hardship quota. They can also cancel their application and initiate the refund process online if required.
Medical Certificate Submission Made Digital
To make the process more transparent and convenient, the ministry has directed pilgrims to download their medical fitness certificate through the Pak Hajj App, have it verified by a relevant doctor, and then upload the certified certificate back onto the portal.
For overseas Pakistanis, submission of a medical fitness certificate verified by an authorised doctor near their place of residence has been made mandatory.
