LAHORE: Police have detained three suspects as investigations continue into the alleged assault of a foreign woman in Lahore’s upscale Defence area.
According to police sources, the three individuals are suspected of facilitating the alleged incident. Police also raided the residence of a relative of the main suspect and seized a vehicle allegedly used in the incident. The woman has also undergone an initial medical examination as part of the investigation.
Investigators have obtained the woman’s travel history, which shows that she had previously visited Pakistan in March and May this year. She first arrived in Lahore from Tashkent on March 4 and left for Baku on March 20. She returned to Pakistan from Baku on May 22, while her current visit is reportedly her third, with her arrival in Lahore approximately 15 days ago.
Sources said the foreign woman is associated with the garments business and frequently travelled between Lahore and Faisalabad for business purposes. She is also able to understand and speak Urdu.
Initial investigations have further indicated that the woman had contacts with several people locally. A photograph showing her at the Punjab Assembly has also surfaced during the investigation.
Authorities said the high-profile case is being investigated from various angles to establish the facts and determine those responsible.
