ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will emerge as the single largest party in Senate.

In a statement on Twitter, Fawad Chaudhry claimed said that the ruling party will secure 28 to 30 seats in the upcoming Senate polls. The minister said the opposition will only have the option of a short march after claims of public gatherings, resignations, and long marches.

Earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed hope that the PTI would emerge victorious in the Senate elections scheduled to be held on March 3. Chairing a meeting of government spokespersons, the prime minister said the ruling party will easily win Senate elections as it has given tickets to the most suitable candidates.

The meeting discussed the current political situation and the Senate elections while the spokespersons were briefed on the government’s decisions. They also discussed the matter pertaining to the issuance of the ticket to Yousuf Raza Gilani, the joint candidate of the opposition alliance.

Commenting over the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) proposed long march, the prime minister went onto say that the long march of the PDM would also fail like its public rallies.
