LAHORE: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced the temporary closure of several designated air routes within the Lahore Flight Information Region (FIR) as part of measures to facilitate operational and technical activities. A new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has also been issued in this regard.

According to the notification, around five air routes within the Lahore FIR will remain temporarily suspended. The affected routes include the Jhang–Sajan and Regat–Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) routes, among others.

Restrictions on September 17 and 18
The temporary restrictions will remain in effect on September 17 and 18 from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. during both days.

According to the issued notification, the designated air corridors will be closed to both commercial and private aircraft from ground level up to unlimited altitude during the specified hours.

Alternative Routes Activated
The Pakistan Airports Authority has made alternative air routes available for airlines to facilitate the movement of flights in both directions and minimise operational difficulties.

Pilots operating flights to and from Dera Ismail Khan Airport have also been instructed to maintain mandatory communication with Air Traffic Control (ATC) throughout their flights to ensure smooth and safe use of the available airspace.

Authorities said the temporary restrictions have been introduced as part of routine operational and technical arrangements and to ensure aviation safety.

Airlines and flight operators have been advised to follow the relevant air traffic control instructions and use the designated alternative routes during the specified restriction periods.
