Islam teaches its adherents to be tolerant rather than engage in disputes, corruption, quarrels, murders, robberies, bribes, fraud, or money laundering, which have becoming norms of our society nowadays.
However, the majority of corruption, thievery, racketeering, lying, deceit, and backstabbing take place in Pakistan, a country that was founded in the name of Islam. We see every day a brother killing his brother for financial gains, and others losing their sisters’ honor in gambling. These are the actions taken by Muslims, who identify as the followers of the Holy Prophet of Arabia (PBUH).
Calling yourself a Muslim is one thing but understanding Islam and its commands in the true sense of the word is another. If you don’t follow the orders of Islam as Sharia dictates, but call yourself a Muslim while lying, cheating and deceiving other people, you bring Islam into disrepute.
Islam instructs Muslims to constantly be tolerant, to show respect for people of other religions, and to listen to others before expressing their own opinions. Islam’s core principles include good manners and piety in addition to prayer, fasting, performing the hajj, and giving alms.
Consider the fact that the Arabs began referring to the Prophet of Allah (PBUH) as “Sadiq and Amin” (The truthful one and trustworthy) way before he preached about prayer, fasting, Hajj, or Zakat. There were no ethics-related lectures, classes, or university seminars that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) organized. The Prophet PBUH taught morality through both his words and deeds, and his deeds had the power to convert Islam’s foes to the faith. So much so that the enemies of Islam would become staunch defenders of the Islam overnight. That’s why we are right in understanding that Islam was not spread by the sword but by the deeds of the Prophet PBUH and his companions. That is the primary reason that Allah sent the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, who showed Islam in practice.
Today’s Muslims see following the Sharia as their biggest problem, while Muslims of the past only wanted to find a place where they could practice Islam in peace. They had threats from non-believers not from the Sharia own rules.
The Sharia’s guiding principles do not pose a threat to those who uphold them and adhere to Islam; rather, they are a warning to oppressors and tyrants, not to those who obey them. This is because the Sharia’s guiding principles state that anyone who transgresses will be punished.
It is a great favor of Allah Ta’ala that He has given the Sharia to the Muslims to address their issues. It is necessary for a Muslim to adopt the Islamic way and follow the Qur’an and the Sunnah in order to prepare for the events and problems that occur in the life of a Muslim.
