The recent unanimous resolution passed by the National Assembly (NA) condemning the ongoing massacre of Palestinian civilians by Israeli forces in Gaza is a step in the right direction. However, it is evident that mere resolutions will not suffice to halt the relentless killing of innocent Palestinians.
The resolution rightly calls upon the Pakistani government to exert pressure on the international community, particularly the United Nations Organization (UNO), to broker a ceasefire and end the suffering of the Palestinian people. Yet, despite numerous condemnations and appeals, the international response remains inadequate in the face of this humanitarian crisis.
The reality is stark: the Gaza Strip lies in ruins, decimated by indiscriminate Israeli bombardment over the past months. The death toll continues to rise, surpassing 31,000 innocent lives lost, yet the world remains largely silent in holding Israel accountable for its atrocities.
It is evident that the UNO and the United States of America (USA) are failing to uphold their moral obligations, while many Islamic countries also fall short in fulfilling their responsibilities to protect the Palestinians from Israeli aggression. Passing resolutions, while symbolically important, holds little weight if they fail to translate into meaningful action to halt the bloodshed.
It is imperative for Muslim countries to unite and take a firm stance against the ongoing plight of the Palestinian people. The time has come for collective action beyond rhetoric. Muslim nations must warn the UNO that continued inaction will no longer be tolerated, and that failure to intervene to stop the genocide of innocent Palestinians will lead to a withdrawal of Islamic countries’ support.
A unified and unequivocal stance from Muslim countries can compel the UNO to take decisive action against Israel and put an end to the killing of Palestinians. It is time for action, not just words.
