Policemen booked for the death of ATM thief

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Police have registered a case against the policemen in whose custody the ATM card thief, Salauddin Ayubi died. The ATM thief’s video went viral on social media as he stuck out his tongue while damaging the ATM in Faisalabad died in the police custody.
Police have lodged a case against SHO Mehmood ul Hassan, SI, Shafaqat Ali and ASI Matloob Hussain on the complaint of Salahuddin’s father at PS City A Division.
The suspect, Salahuddin was arrested in Rahim Yar Khan under Sections 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and 380 (theft in dwelling, house, etc) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Salauddin died in the police custody. He was reportedly suffering from a health condition. He was rushed to the hospital when his condition deteriorated.
The district police officer ordered an inquiry into the death of Salauddin. The exact cause of which would be determined after the post-mortem report is released. Police arrested Salauddin on three prior occasions, and every time he was let go after presenting himself as being speech impaired.
The district police officer’s (DPO) spokesman, Zeeshan Randhawa said that upon his latest arrest, he initially put on an act, pretending to be speech-impaired, but later spoke to the investigators.
The father of the deceased, Muhammad Afzaal, in the FIR has stated that his son was mentally unstable. The family was not in contact with him for a while but they have tattooed the information on Salauddin’s arm. Muhammad Afzal stated that despite knowing the condition of the deceased, police did not contact the family. The complainant has also added that police conducted Salauddin’s post mortem without taking the consent from the family.
