GUJRAT: An Additional Sessions Court in Gujrat has sentenced a father to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs500,000 after convicting him in a case involving the rape of his minor daughter.
Additional Sessions Judge Shahbaz Iqbal Tarrar announced the verdict against Saqib Amir Butt, sentencing him to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs500,000.
The court also ordered that if the convict fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional six months in prison.
According to police records, the case was registered in 2024 at Lari Adda Police Station on the complaint of the accused’s wife.
Police said the investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly subjected his minor daughter to sexual abuse for six months before the case was registered.
The accused had been in custody at Gujrat Jail for the past 24 months following his arrest, while the case proceeded through the trial process.
After completion of the trial, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment along with the financial penalty.
The verdict marks the conclusion of the trial at the sessions court, while the convict remains subject to the applicable legal process and any available legal remedies.
