Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty was questioned by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Tuesday, in connection with a ₹60 crore (approximately
A businessman Deepak Kothari, accused Shetty and Kundra of a ₹60 crore fraud. Kothari alleges that the couple took the money for business expansion between 2015 and 2023 but instead used it for personal expenses.
The case is related to the couple’s now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Private Limited.
During the four-and-a-half-hour session, Shetty provided bank transaction details and documents to the EOW. Investigators are now verifying her claims.

The EOW had also previously recorded Raj Kundra’s statement in September 2025.
Raj Kundra reportedly claimed that some of the money was paid to actresses Bipasha Basu and Neha Dhupia. Investigators have reportedly traced funds transferred from the company to accounts of these actresses, as well as Shetty’s.
In early October 2025, the Bombay High Court rejected the couple’s request to travel abroad and refused to stay the lookout notice issued against them.

Shetty began her acting career in 1993 with the film Baazigar. She gained critical acclaim for her performance as a woman with AIDS in Phir Milenge (2004) and a woman in an unhappy marriage in Life in a… Metro (2007).
