Man sets himself on fire outside in-laws’ house after wife refuses to return home

In a tragic incident within the limits of Mustafaabad police station, a 35-year-old Shahbaz allegedly poured petrol on himself and set himself on fire, resulting in severe burns, following a domestic dispute.

According to rescue officials, Shahbaz’s wife had left for her parents’ home following a dispute. Reports suggest that Shahbaz went to his in-laws’ house in an attempt to bring her back, but when she refused to return, he allegedly took the extreme step, setting himself on fire outside his in-laws’ house.

After the incident, the rescue team immediately shifted the severely burned Shahbaz to Bulleh Shah Hospital, Kasur, where after first aid, he was referred to Lahore for further treatment as his condition was critical.

As soon as the incident was reported, the local police reached the spot and have started an investigation from various angles.

Earlier, Kahna police arrested a suspect and his brother hours after he allegedly tortured his wife to death over family disputes.

The suspect was identified as Salman and his brother as Usman. Police registered a case against them on the complaint of the deceased woman’s brother, Javed.

Javed told police that Salman used to humiliate and torture his 35-year-old sister over petty domestic issues.
