Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced a march towards Islamabad on September 27, 2026, saying the demonstration is intended to highlight demands concerning Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
Addressing supporters, Afridi said the party is demanding that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi be allowed to meet their family members and personal physicians.
He also called for all pending cases against them to be heard in accordance with the law and decided on merit.
He stressed that the requirements of justice should be upheld through transparent court proceedings and the protection of fundamental legal rights.
Separately, PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram confirmed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister had announced the September 27 long march.
According to Sheikh Waqas Akram, party workers chanted slogans calling for the march to proceed to D-Chowk during Afridi’s address. In response, the chief minister said the march would instead head towards Adiala.
PTI leaders said the march is intended to convey the party’s demands to the authorities, adding that the party will also announce its future political strategy during the campaign.
The party has previously announced protest movements and public rallies on several occasions. Authorities have typically taken security and administrative measures to maintain law and order during such events.
