ISLAMABAD: A vigilance team of the electricity department has thrashed a power theft in the G-7 area of Islamabad by a police head constable.
According to sources, the WAPDA team accompanied by police had raided the house of federal police officer Tariq in connection with the power theft. While Tariq kept a direct power line from the electric pole, sources said.
“WAPDA supervisor Khalid, who was supervising the team, checked the electricity bills of the last two years on the spot which were only between Rs. 1000 to 1500 while four families had rented accommodation in the house”, sources added.
After the power theft came to light, other employees from the police department, including female constable Abida also took action and got a deal from WAPDA officials for Rs 1,005,000, sources said.
Earlier, on the orders of ISCO CEO Shahid Iqbal, a power theft application was also submitted to Aabpara police station, which was withdrawn after receiving the deal money.
The people of the area have appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Interior Minister Ijaz Shah, Federal Minister for Water and Power to take stern action against the power thieves and their supporters.
