An Indonesian woman has been discovered dead within the stomach of a python, which engulfed her entirely in central Indonesia, as confirmed by a local official on Saturday.
The husband of Farida, a 45-year-old resident of Kalempang village in South Sulawesi province, along with other villagers, found her remains yesterday inside a reticulated python measuring approximately five meters (16 feet) in length.
Farida, a mother of four, had disappeared on Thursday night and did not return home, prompting a search effort led by the village head, Suardi Rosi.
According to Mr. Suardi, her husband became suspicious upon finding her belongings, leading the villagers to conduct a thorough search. Eventually, they noticed a python with a visibly enlarged belly.
“The villagers decided to dissect the python’s stomach,” Mr. Suardi explained.
Farida was discovered fully clothed within the snake.
While such incidents are exceedingly rare, several people in Indonesia have succumbed to similar fates in recent years, being swallowed whole by pythons. Last year, residents in Southeast Sulawesi’s Tinanggea district killed an eight-meter python after it was found consuming a farmer in a village.
