KARACHI: An Indian movie was shown to the students during the student festival at the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University in Lyari.
During the student festival at Lyari-based Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University, the issue of showing the Indian movie ‘Hera Pheri’ has been highlighted.
It is being told that the student council sought permission for a 3-day food festival through the business administration department and an Indian film was played on the third day.
It is worth mentioning that except for one teacher, none of the teachers of the university, including the relevant department, were present there, who stopped the film, while a teacher who was there, instead of stopping the film, made a video of the whole scene with his mobile phone.

On the other hand, the university administration was strongly criticized on this matter and the acting vice chancellor of the university, Dr. Siraj Memon, was given an opinion that all this is happening because of his not coming to the university and the university is being destroyed.
Lyari University issued a statement in this regard saying that the event was organized without any prior permission from the university administration which is not acceptable in any case, the organizers did not follow the prevailing rules for conducting the festival. Neither the university code of conduct was respected, nor the festival was immediately stopped when it was discovered.
According to the statement, the organizer has severely violated the rules of the university in this regard, due to which the organizer has been summoned after taking notice of the matter and now disciplinary action is being taken against them.
The administration made it clear that the university cannot allow such a bad example on campus under any circumstances.
It should be noted that the Acting Vice Chancellor of Lyari University Jinnah is the permanent head of Sindh Medical University due to which he can only spend a few hours a day in Lyari University, but he is also known for taking timely action in various matters.
A day ago, immediate action was taken by him on a video in which the toilets of the students were shown in a bad condition, but the concerned persons took action the next day and made these washrooms usable.
