Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed authorities to take strict legal action against human trafficking networks across the country, advocating the need to set a strong example. He also called for the immediate confiscation of properties and assets owned by human traffickers.

During a review meeting on anti-human trafficking efforts, the prime minister lauded the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for recent disciplinary actions against government officials involved in such activities. He further instructed that strict measures be taken against facilitators supporting these crimes.

According to a report by Pak Observer, the meeting, as detailed in a press release by the PM Office Media Wing, provided an update on progress in legal actions against human trafficking facilitators and ongoing legislative efforts to combat this issue.

Attendees included Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam, and senior officials from various departments.

The prime minister stressed the importance of making prosecution processes against human traffickers more effective by appointing top lawyers in consultation with the Ministry of Law and Justice. He urged the Foreign Office to collaborate with relevant countries to expedite the extradition of Pakistanis involved in human trafficking operations abroad.

Additionally, he directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, to launch a public awareness campaign highlighting the importance of using legal channels for overseas employment.
